Hi, I read that you recommend Rockwool 70 between battens, to effectively reduce noise before sound shield. Would Kingspan multifoil or urathane insulation slab take less room than a wool slab and work as well? Thanks.

  • Hi.

As previously noted, we recommend Rockwool as the best material to use. It comes in three sizes too.

If you need any further help, please do give us a call on 08000 192 405

    Thanks

Hi, can this type of board be used on ceiling. As I note from a previous reply the wieght per 11Kg/m2? Best Regards, Tony

  • Hi Tony, thanks for your message, yes this product can be attached to the ceiling, but will need to be attached with fixing screws. The weight of this board is 12kg/m2, and each board comes to 2.88m2 which means that the board weighs 35kg. I hope this helps! Happy Building!

Hi. I want to use this product to insulate the party wall with my neighbour. I can't spare the space to put in a stud-wall and insulation. Would it be more effective to mount this product onto a batten and leave a small gap, or would sticking it to the wall with plasterboard adhesive be as effective? Thanks,

  • Hi Steve, nothing will be as effective as creating a stud wall with Rockwool Insulation Slabs between, however if you have an issue with space, applying one or two of these boards might increase the sound proofing. I hope this helps! Happy Building!

Hi, I am keeping my neighbours awake by talking and laughing with friends until the early hours, there is only a breeze block partition between the terraces with dot and dab plasterboard on each side as far as we can tell. I'm thinking about using one or 2 layers of this product on my side to help keep the noise down, either dot and dab or buidling a frame. Will this make much difference? Especially as hometheatre may be on the way. Thanks

  • Hi Hadleigh, the best solution to your problem is to put some Rockwool Insulation Flexi Slabs around 70mm thick in a stud wall with some Knauf Soundshield over it. This is done but creating stud battons around 60cm apart and attaching them and the rockwool to the wall with fixing screws and then placing the wallboard over. You can then plaster again and decorate over. This should help towards to the sound problem. I hope this helps! Happy Building!

Would it be OK to use these boards underneath the fire & moist shield boards we are using around a new build. Would you also know what fire rating this might give with 1 fireshield & 1 soundshield tacked wall. 25.5mm total Thanks.

  • Hi Chris, This can be used underneath the other two boards however I am not sure on what positive effects the extra board will do. The thermal conductivity of the Fireshield is k= 0.24 W/mK and the soundshield is k = 0.24W/mK. Are you using any insulation with that as well. It might be easy to use 70mm of Rockwool insulation slabs behind the boards rather than another panel. I hope this helps. Happy Building!

Thinking of putting stud work on an existing brich wall, infilling with Rockwool insulation, and putting Soundshield wall board on top. Should I insulate the studwork against the wall to reduce sound transference, if so how, and how is it best to fix the wood to the wall.

  • Hi John, you would not necessarily have to fit a plasterboard to the wall, one soundshield on the outside of the insulation should work a treat. You can fix this product by using traditional fixing screws that will attach to the wall. I would also recommend using 70mm thick Rockwool as this will have the best result against price. hope this helps. Happy Building!

Hi, If I do some noisy works at my flat, that board protect my neighbours? Thanks

  • Hi Alex, this product alone would not defuse any noisy sound, try creating stud walls with battons that are 60cm apart and put some Rock Wool Flexi Insulation Slabs, and the Knauf Soundshield over them this will create an effective barrier against the noise. I hope this helps! Happy Building!

Hi, I live very close to a noisy building, and I can get no rest. what can I use? please help.

  • Hi Rosemary, this product would be an ideal treatment for sound proofing a wall! If you create a stud wall with peices of wood every 60cm along the wall. then attach Rockwool Insulation 1200x600x70mm thick insulation between the studs and then cover the lot with Kanuf Soundshield. It should create a very strong sound barrier. I hope this helps! Happy Building!

Hi, Can the boards be fixed using standard plasterboard adhesive? Thanks

  • Hi Elliott, yes these products can be attached using standard plaster adhesive. These are laid as normal plasterboards. However, it might be worth considering putting a stud wall in to create some extra insulation space. I hope this helps. Happy Building!

Hi, do you know the density, or at least kg/m squared for this product. I've heard they're fairly heavy and am considering using it. Regards

  • Hi Nick, the density of this board is 11kg m2. I hope this helps! Happy Building!
