There are loads of flooring options available for budding home decorators to use these days, but not all of them can be used in every part of the house. Carpets may be fine for bedrooms and laminate flooring perfect for living and dining rooms, but they simply aren't suitable for wetter areas such as bathrooms. The solution? Tiling, of course!

Bathroom floor tiles

Tiles are better for use on bathroom floors because of a number of vital characteristics:

• Unlike wood floors, most types of bathroom tiles are non-slip; a feature you will find comes in handy when getting in and out of the bath or shower

• Floor tiles are also resistant to the kind of warping or swelling that occurs when laminate flooring gets wet

• Porcelain tiles are extremely hygienic and easy to clean, unlike carpets which begin to rot and create odour when exposed to frequent dampness.

• All types of bathroom tiles, including ceramic tiles, enhance the appearance of your bathroom. This is a room which needs to be clean, so it makes sense that you should install spotless, fresh-looking tiles to convey this sense of cleanliness.

• Tiles are available in a wider range of colours, designs and glossy finishes than other types of flooring. You can create a unique look in your bathroom, and put your own personal stamp on it.
