More than simply a great house seller, a fantastic bathroom is essential in any home. Let's face it, one of life's simple pleasures takes place there. A long soak in the bath can help you forget the stresses and strains of a working week which is why it is so important to have a bathroom that allows you the opportunity to unwind in the luxury of your own home.
To celebrate the recent launch of Builder Superstore's fantastic new bathroom range , we have taken a look at some of the fundamentals for a perfect bathroom and show you how to create your own bathroom paradise.
Utilise Your Space
A small bathroom doesn't have to mean a stale bathroom. After all, it can be rather difficult to relax when you're cramped into a room the size of a shoe-box! It is therefore essential that you utilise every last inch of space and leave no area unused.
One of the most effective ways to do this is to capitalise on your sink area. A super-sized mirror over the sink reflects light and makes the room seem even bigger. Furthermore, by purchasing a sink with storage space, there's no need to have bottles of shampoo and shower gel clogging up the outskirts of your bath.
If you don't have room (or indeed the time) for a bath, a shower enclosure can look equally as appealing.
Another trick of the trade is to hang wall-mounted sinks in small spaces , thereby creating the illusion of more space by not taking up any room on the floor.
Choose The Right Tiles
Of course, for those who are looking to completely re-do their bathroom, it is possible to buy suites that are specially designed to work within minimal spaces. But if your budget won't stretch to this, re-tiling can make all the difference.
First and foremost, you should tile the floor and the walls around the bath from floor to ceiling. Most people still tend to favour stone tiles for the bathroom, but many ceramic tiles create the same look at a fraction of the cost. If you're looking to add texture to your bathroom, then look no further than Bumpy White Wall Tiles .
Either way, by going for larger tiles, it not only makes for a speedier job but can also make a small room look bigger. And with 10% off ALL wall tiles, it has never been a better time to take advantage of this.
Get A Contemporary Look
Although it's natural to want to have a bathroom that is distinctive to your personal tastes, you must be careful not to choose colours that you are likely to become tired with in a short period of time. What seemed perfect for a beautiful summer's day may not be so ideal come the middle of winter!
It is therefore advisable to keep the colour scheme fairly simple - black or grey tiles and white walls and sanitary ware work well, as do soft sandy colours with white or soft cream walls. However, should you fancy a more designer look, the Tumbled Stone Fragment Mosaic is ideal for you.
For those wanting to replicate the sleek, linear look of many boutique hotels, simply add Rectangular Brick Tiles to your bath and basin to get the desired look.
Contemporary taps give your bathroom a stylish edge and can be installed reasonably cheap (specialist bathroom suppliers and plumbers' merchants often have the cheapest). Heated towel rails are another bathroom accessory that are becoming more popular, and have the added bonus of keeping the room nice and warm.
