Laying garden paving around the edge of your pond

If you want to provide an attractive edge to your pond, then why not go for the formal paving look? This will certainly impress your visitors when they come round in the summer for a BBQ.

To start with you need to make sure the surface of the pond is at ground level. This will enable you to lay the garden paving and hide the edge of the pond liner too. If you have a gravelled area around the pond, this paving also works to stop gravel ending up in the pond. So, whichever way you look at it, with a formal paving design, everyone’s a winner.

You can also lay the paving slightly over the edge of the pond if you want. For safety reasons, it’s always best to highlight the pond in some way, possibly by contrasting the colours of paving slabs used? It’s up to you, but it is advisable.

If your pond is raised above ground level, the edge would be most appropriately created with the use of larger paving slabs. This will not only hide the liner and the construction of the walls but also provide an area where you may want to place chairs and relax by the pond.
