General Health and Safety for Tiles
1. Delivery
Often the delivery wagon will use a tail lift to unload your order(s). Please maintain a safe distance away from the wagon and provide a place for resting the palletised order on the kerbside.
When accepting a delivery in parcel form please remember to set the parcel down gently with a straight back and bent knees to avoid damaging your tiles or more importantly your body.
Always treat tiles and paving with care as they can break easily - take care when unpacking product for the first time if the product is broken it could cause you harm.
2. Lifting
When lifting tiles you must always keep a straight back and bend your knees to lift. Remember lifting less tiles is far easier and safer for you - don't try to lift too many at once. Palletised deliveries must be broken down to move comfortably to the storage or fixing location. Do not attempt to lift a pallet on your own - this could be dangerous.
3. Cutting
Due to the nature of tiles being hard and often brittle material which is liable to cracking and splintering. The edges and splinters can often be very sharp and can cut skin easily. Please use protective goggles, gloves and a face mask (breathing equipment) whilst cutting and shaping tiles or paving.
If using an electric tile cutter remember to wear ear defenders also as they can often have high decibel output which could damage hearing over prolonged periods of use.
