POLISHED PORCELAIN FLOOR TILE FIXING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare
These tiles can be laid onto either a prepared concrete floor, treated with self levelling compound or a suitably prepared timber floor overlaid with suitable water resistant flooring grade plywood. We would recommend using a 6 mm or 9 mm board where there is the slightest movement. The boards should then be coated with flexible primer or PVA.2. Plan
Arrange tiles in the desired layout before fixing. Mix the contents of two or three packs of tiles to achieve an acceptable blend of colour and shade. For external edges, an edging strip is available.3. Fixing
Using an adhesive trowel, apply the tile adhesive, following the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.Position the first tile (key tile) in the centre of the room to avoid uneven gaps around the edges.
Press tiles firmly into position, fixing all full tiles first. Use tile spacers to form even gaps.
Remove all excess adhesive from the surface of the tile before it dries.
4. Sealing
Thoroughly clean and dry the tiles and then apply impregnator/sealer before grouting. Following the sealer manufacturer's instructions.5. Cutting
Tiles can be cut to size using a wet or dry tile cutter.6. Grouting
Allow 24 hours for the tile adhesive to set before grouting. Use the grout float to grout well into the tile joints and remove any excess immediately with a damp sponge. Allow to dry before applying a second coat of sealer. Always follow the grout manufacturer's instructions.
Use a grout finisher to obtain a professional result. When the grout is fully dry, wipe over with a clean dry cloth.
